A ten year old Kat-Rin curled up in her cell. Joker had caught her. She was scared. Why did Joker have to lock her up for wanting to see her brother? Why was the rule that she could never leave her new home? Her new country? Why couldn’t she leave Clover?
She started to cry as she mewled two words over and over again, “big brother…”
She sat there like this, alone, for quite sometime before she heard two male voices. They were close but faint at the same time. Like they were whispering.
The first was closer to her than the other, “Hatter, there’s a little girl here.”
Suddenly her cell door opened. She flinched, thinking that it might be the Joker, but looked up as a second unfamiliar voice said, “young lady, you seem to have the wrong room. Shall we escort you out?”
The man stretched out his hand as his ragged black hair brushed over his forehead a bit. She took hold of his white gloved hand and followed them out. She ran as fast as she could, only a few steps behind them as they fled the horrid place. They tripped over some broken toys that were scattered on the floor, misplaced in a jail like this. Kat-Rin thought that the toys made the place even creepier, urging her to run faster. The group was almost out when the warden showed himself. Joker appeared right behind her and placed his hand on her shoulder.
“I’m sorry, but I’m not letting this toy out of the toy box so easily,” Joker stated, Black being the personality in charge at the moment.
Kat-Rin, out of fear and desperation, caused her elbow blades to appear. She usually hated violence, and so she would never use them. But she was to scared to think rationally. She spun around and sliced off Joker’s head like a pro. After this though, the adrenaline subsided and she realized what she had done. She had just killed someone. She had just done something she had never wanted to do. (Granted, Joker can only be killed by an outsider, but that body was now useless.) She was in pure shock.
“Elliot, we don’t have long. The other will be here soon,” Hatter told his friend.
Elliot nodded, causing his rabbit ears to flop over his head a bit. He picked Kat-Rin up and they fled once more.
Once they were finally out, Hatter let them rest in his mansion. He offered Elliot a job as second in command in the Hatter Family Mafia while Kat re-cooperated. Once she was settled down, they both approached her gingerly.
“Young lady, you have some impressive skills with your weapon. Would you like to join this family?” Hatter offered.
Kat looked at them as Elliot added, “if you do, we can protect you from the Joker if he tries to come after you again.”
“I will,” Kat nodded with a smile, something she hadn’t done since before she was caught. She felt…safe…with Elliot around. He kind of reminded her of her older brother, Boris.
Hatter smirked, “what is your name?”
“Kat-Rin Airay, the Cheshire Cat of Clover,” Kat introduced herself.
